Free Music Downloads - iPod & iPhone Sites Shut Down

It's pretty obvious by now that a number of iPod and iPhone free music downloads sites were recently closed. And the ones still operating probably won't in the near future.

I had a number of sales from my affiliate account with the previously named iPodDownloadsPro.com request a refund.

But they're back under a different name MyNetDownloads.

As you can see the iPod trade name in the company's URL was the problem as far as Apple is concerned.

The iPod, iPhone and iTunes download sites are allowed to use the trade names in their URL as long as they pay Apple a license fee.

This to me is all part of the growing problem associated with the increasing sophistication of modern technology which makes it so much easier to copy or download media. Particularly with the explosion of high speed Internet connections.

Ten years ago this wasn't a problem as the old dial-up connection's slow speed made it just impossible for the average person to download hundreds or even thousands of media files.

But as I said, my iPod downloads site is up and running as before offering the same services, but simply using a different name.
