Indie music download sites are growing in popularity because they offer totally free music downloads. And because the major recording labels have such a strangle hold on copywrite infringement of their music.

Too bad for them and very good for us because there are a lot of really good musicians that go un-noticed because they weren't promoted by a major recording label.

In comes the indie or independent music download sites which feature independent music artists, a lot of which are very talented.

I posted info on another really cool indie site offering free music downloads a while back that categorizes the music for you. They're really cool!

Of course there's always eMusic. And although they specialize in independent music artists, they do have a number of tracks from the major recording labels.

Now, I don't mind paying for the major recording artist's music but why not add to your music library with other tunes most of your friends may not have.

Besides, you may end up with tunes from a group that could go viral and end up costing you a lot of bucks later!
